Shiatsu Regulatory Group UK 2007
Next SRG Meeting 21st July 2008 Please send agenda items to Carol Dean Hon Sec ------------------------- SRG members confirm their commitment to regulation - see News
* SRG still need a lay member - someone who is able to attend our meetings and contribute a lay perspective. If you or someone you know would be interested, please contact Paul Nethercott
* Mike Webster of IAWE resigns from SRG. It appears Mike had some issues with the Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health over research, which has nothing to do with the regulator (CNHC) or regulation, and recommended that his members vote against regulation. Any IAWE Shiatsu practitioners will still be able individually to join the CNHC register when - if - Shiatsu becomes a regulated profession and they meet the requirements.
* Skills for Health have begun a project to define new and/or amended National Occupation Standards for Shiatsu and a number of other complementary professions. First meetings of strategy and representative groups in June. See http://tinyurl.com/5qxkls for more information, and Working Papers page for notes on strategy meeting
* At the Maymeeting the SRG members confirmed that having now seen the form of the new regulator, they still want to proceed towards regulation
* Also at the May meeting, more useful steps towards completing the definition of Shiatsu, APL/APEL, Continuous Professional Development and grandparenting for input to the NOS process were taken.
* Regulator launched by Ben Bradshaw, Minister of State for Health Service, on 31 March 2008. See his speech here
* New Guide to Regulation added - see below
